I didn’t intend to send out my first post until the weekend, but some folks online gave me the idea to make a spreadsheet tracking the status of the high volume of executive orders and memoranda from the last few days.
Here from the TGIF, Free Press shoutout. Thank you for making this! So helpful!
Here’s the full quote from the TGIF column by Nellie Bowles, as requested below.
“A flurry of executive orders: Trump came to D.C. very ready this time. As Sharpie caps flew, he signed anything that vaguely resembled a leather folder. And the American right, so fully out of power, have been plotting for this moment for years. This week they hit the ground running with presidential actions, orders, and proclamations so numerous that it’s hard to know where to begin. To sign them, Trump sat in an arena with a capacity of 20,000 people, a very Caesar-like setting. There’s actually a helpful spreadsheet [hyperlinked in the actual column] someone made detailing each one, plus the likelihood of it being actually being implemented and also its estimated impact (it was made by a guy who started a new Substack called The BS Detector [hyperlinked in the actual column], which we certainly need).”
Very helpful. I look forward to your insights and projections. I'm looking at creating a simple Appsheet app to reference and display your work to help me better understand the impact of these orders and memoranda. It will also give me a platform for adding my own comments and observatons.
Studying the spreadsheet… maybe it’s just me, but I feel like it would be easier to understand the numbers and colors in the “forecast” column if it was framed in the positive instead of negative (likelihood to pass instead of get blocked). Green = yes so “Withdraws the US from the Paris Agreement” would be 95% likely to pass instead of 5% likely to be blocked.
Found this through a shout-out from the Free Press (https://www.thefp.com/p/tgif-i-solemnly-swear). Thanks for the helpful tl;dr.
EDIT: Oh and FYI the OECD EO link is wrong in the doc, links to the security council EO instead.
Thank you. Very helpful and informative. It's been like drinking from a fire hose this week, and this helps to settle it down.

Hey Indu, thanks! I'm not a FP subscriber, do you mind dm'ing or commenting the quote that linked ppl to this document? I'm curious!
You got it! Edited my comment with the quote.
You need to freeze the top row so the headings show as the reader scrolls down the document.
I wish I could! Unfortunately, it's not possible AFAICT with google sheets when you publish it to the web as a standalone site.

Here from the Free Press too. Great work!

Again, if it’s just me, disregard :)
Very useful, thank you! Wow, the Trump administration is so much more prepared now than they would have been had they won in 2020. Ironic.
